RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of gene polymorphisms in hypoxia-inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α) in left ventricular hypertrophy of hypertensive patients. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A total of 583 hypertensive patients were divided into two groups, with left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH (+), 198 cases) and without left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH (-), 385 cases). Polymerase Chain Reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism was used to detect the single nucleotide gene polymorphisms rs11549465, rs11549467 and rs1957757 in HIF-1α. RESULTS: The distribution differences of gene frequencies for rs11549465, rs11549467 and rs1957757 in HIF1A single nucleotide gene polymorphisms for LVH (+) and LVH (-) were statistically significant (p<0.05). The T allele of rs11549465 loci and the G allele of rs11549467 loci increased the risk of LVH, related to the increased plasma expression of HIF-1α (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Gene polymorphism of HIF-1α were related to primary hypertensive left ventricular hypertrophy, and the expression of rs11549467 correlated with the increasing concentration of plasma HIF-1α.

RESUMO

ßig-h3 is an extracellular matrix protein induced by transforming growth factor-ß1 (TGF-ß1) and involved in adhesion between cell and cell, cell and matrix. It has been proved that ßig-h3 is highly expressed in human lung cancer and colorectal cancer cells, and thus it is considered to have the same effect on gastric cancer cells. This research applied histochemical staining and RT-PCR to detect the content of ßig-h3 in peritoneal mesothelial cells and the content of carcino embryonic antigen (CEA) mRNA in abdominal dropsy or peritoneal washing liquid, in order to explore the relationship between the factors of peritoneal metastasis of gastric cancer and ßig-h3. It was found that the positive ratio of ßig-h3 in the gastric cancer group was higher than that in the benign disease group, and the positive rate of immunohistochemistry was closely related to the relative factors of peritoneal metastasis such as tumor infiltration depth, serosal types, macroscopic peritoneal metastasis, CEA mRNA, results of pleural lavage cytology (PLC) examination, etc. Research found that ßig-h3 expressed distinctly in gastric cancer peritoneal metastasis, therefore, it is useful for monitoring biological behavior of gastric cancer.

RESUMO

A Fuzzy Reasoning and Verification Petri Nets (FRVPNs) model is established for an error detection and diagnosis mechanism (EDDM) applied to a complex fault-tolerant PC-controlled system. The inference accuracy can be improved through the hierarchical design of a two-level fuzzy rule decision tree (FRDT) and a Petri nets (PNs) technique to transform the fuzzy rule into the FRVPNs model. Several simulation examples of the assumed failure events were carried out by using the FRVPNs and the Mamdani fuzzy method with MATLAB tools. The reasoning performance of the developed FRVPNs was verified by comparing the inference outcome to that of the Mamdani method. Both methods result in the same conclusions. Thus, the present study demonstratrates that the proposed FRVPNs model is able to achieve the purpose of reasoning, and furthermore, determining of the failure event of the monitored application program.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: For the first time, serum anti-HIV antibody negative conversion was being reported. METHODS: Eight confirmed HIV/AIDS patients (AC1, ARC 6, AIDS 1) were treated with TCM recipes (802, 806, 809, 810, Shengmaiyin, ZY-1), recheck the serum antibody and immunological function and intranuclear HIV-DNA was investigated with PCR amplifying assay and were long-term followed-up. RESULTS: After medication for 87-463 days, seronegative conversion occurred, PCR assay revealed that 5 cases were PCR(+), 2 of them(-), 1 turned seropositive again in the early stage. Observed continuously for 11-49 months, the "serum negative and intranuclear positive" state maintained. These patients belonged to immunosilent HIV-infection. The immunological function of all seronegative converted patients were good. CONCLUSIONS: AIDS is a reversible disease. Using medicinal herbs to enhance the immune function will facilitate the appearance of seronegative conversion, which has not been reported before. If it could be further confirmed, its mechanism elucidated, this may greatly strengthen the confidence of the patients.

RESUMO

60 HIV-infected patients were treated with Glyke, a Chinese materia medica, 40 mg, 3 times daily x 3-6 months were given. The total effective rate was 35%. The effective + unchanged rate of immune function was 68.3-90%. 18-64% of patients improved in clinical symptoms. PCR assay was checked in one of the two seronegative patients, it showed positive. Glyke could both inhibit the SIV activity as well as enhance the immunity experimentally.
